A Question of Fuse Boxes

I recently discovered that the cooling fans on my '02 ZX5 need replaced and, rather than just throwing in a new fan, I thought it might be best to try to diagnose what killed it in the first place. I suspect that it was probably just the incompetent previous owners. I had read that checking the fuses and the relays are one of the things that you should do anytime you are diagnosing a fan, so I downloaded a fuse box diagram. However, when I went to check my fuses, I discovered that, according to the diagram, entire sections of my fuse box are simply missing- including those that relate to the fan! I'll post a link here to what's in there- or not as the case may be. Let me know if this is just a normal variance among models or if I have another project ahead of me! The link on top is to my fuse box, the second one is to the diagram.

It is NORMAL to be "missing" fuses. Fuse boxes are pretty generic for many models where something like lets say a town car would use the same box but since there is many more electronics it would requrie more fuses. So what your seeing is normal. as for missing fuses relating to the fan, look in your owners manual what the amperage fuse you need and plug it in!

while tracking down the root of a failure is good preventative medicine for many automotive repairs, don't waste your time doing it on this one. Cooling fans are at the "end of the line", and so there isn't really anything upstream that could damage them (aside from the unlikelihood of overvoltages or a failing relay that endlessly chattered). Other Focus owners on this forum frequently report bad fan motors, so it's probably nothing more than wear and tear. The only thing a previous owner could have done to prematurely kill them would be man-handling them or alot of idling/AC in hot weather.

Odds of fans being both bad are astronomical. They both work together, if both not working then something other than fans is wrong. Only way both could go bad is that one does it and idiot driver keeps driving car till other one does too. A car used like that is highly suspect for other engine problems.......and you seem to be finding them.

As he says, some fuses and relays not present but they must be there for fans. Doublecheck your part locations.
