Shifter linkage? Stuck in 6th gear with limp shifter

I was coming off the highway and the shifter just flops forward and back not doing anything. Clutch still works fine as I limped the car home in 6th. The shifter won't move left and right and front to back it just flops.

I pulled off my shifter boot and. Didnt see anything obvious.

Anyone have any diagrams for where the linkage attaches to the trans to make sure they didn't fall off or something?

If you remove whatever type of air filter you have and then the airbox that sits underneath it you can inspect the linkages at the trans end, there's at least one youtube video that should shed some light on it. Not hard to get to. You might also use the search function here, there are numerous threads that will touch on this topic.

Your shifter linkage apart in the center. You will need to get under the car to see this.

You will see 2 cables coming from your tranny going to your firewall from under the car. And then you will see 4 pieces of plastic connections. One of them has come off. And you simple twist them back together. Yes sad, they are plastic.

Many in the past have twisted these pieces back together and then ziptied them for security.

I done that a couple of times. Works fine. Sure you get a tad bit of play as oppose to getting new cables, but your wallet would be happy and you will too.

I'll see if I can find the photos and how-to of what I am talking about ... someone did a how-to ages ago.
