Wire harness question

So I am going to put in a new head unit, I have the wire harness for the head unit and I'm wondering, do I need the focus harness as well or can I use the harness that powers the stock radio and use butt connectors so I can utilize the new harness? This will obviously be my first time installing a deck so I just want to make sure I have the right parts before I begin. Thanks

Use an adapter. It will make life a lot easier.

As you probably know, there are harnesses available that adapt aftermarket HUs to many cars. Yes you can use butt connectors, but will likely get a better long term connection if you can find a harness. Soldering will also give you better connections than crimp connectors. This is a very useful site: http://www.installer.com/
Good luck.

I believe it is the METRA 70-1784 but it says it's for Audi's and VW's which is kind of odd. If someone could clarify if thats the correct one. I don't really doubt it is because it's listed on installer.com

if you had the blaupunkt headunit stock then you will ned the VW harness. when wiring it you will need to reverse the constant and acc wires (wire red to yellow and yellow to red). you will also need the dash kit and the VW antenna adapter.
