Different Kind Of Exhaust Question
My '04 ZX3 Zetec has a FSWerks race header and flex pipe and a borla cat back with a test pipe rather than a converter. It is just a little too loud for my taste and I want to put a converter back on it to quiet it a little bit and so when I ship it back to the US I don't run into any trouble. I just want to know if there would be any obvious problems running this converter? It looks to me like it would fit the hangers and the flange, but I thought I would ask before I just throw $200 at it to find out. Or would a universal high flow be a better option?

i would think you would run into more problems overseas running without a cat than you would over here. depending on where you are moving to i would suggest just adding a resonator into the exhaust to quieten it down rather than adding a cat. because over here you can run without a cat simply by having a tune or running an o2 cheater/mil eliminator. i havent had a cat on my car for the better part of 5 years. maybe longer.

Yes a resonator can get rid of it. They come in different sizes also to tailor the sound to what you want. Personally I'd get one of the biggest ones you can.

Yes it would, I put a 36" long glasspack (basically the same thing as a resonator) and it got rid of my raspyness and made it so much more tolerable now. Kicking myself in the butt for not doing it sooner. I do have inspections in my area but I have been passing for 7-8 years now with no cat with no problem. Has long as the Check Engine light isn't on you should pass, unless they stick a sniffer up your tail pipe like they do on pre 96' model years you should be fine, but you should check what they do in your area to be sure. You could always by a universal cat or a high flow universal cat if you need to. Personally I would just throw a resonator on it. I believe the biggest one you can fit is either a 4" or 6" round one on the strait section of the exhaust. Some have even put two there before. If you do put one make sure it's at the front or back section of that pipe encase you want to add another one to quiet it down even more.

Gets more V8

I would suggest a universal just after the flex pipe. Granted, it takes longer to warm up but it gets rid of the smellies.
