New car so new here too!!!
Hi, my name is Peyton, I just got a 2000 zx3, has a 5 speed and the zetec motor in it.
It has 124k on it and runs beautifully, i do not have any paperwork of work that has been done on it, My only complaint would be that it vibrates quite noticeably when sitting still, My Dad is a retired mechanic and is telling me that as a minimum i should change the timing belt as i don't know how old it is and the motor mounts will most likely fix the vibrating. is he on the right track, I would love to tell him he is wrong and these aren't the same as the dinosaurs he used to work on!! :) Thanks in advance Peyton! |

Yup. Listen to your pops. Motor mounts are most likely the vibration and the timing belt should be done if you're not sure if it was or not.
Although the standard Zetec is a non-interference engine so if the timing belt goes.. you won't need a new engine. Sent from my Man Cannon via FF Mobile |
