400 miles per tank club?

Just got home from a 600 mile each way trip and saw what felt like a pretty interesting feat in my car anyway. 407 miles on one tank averaging 65-70 mph the whole tank and clocking 35.0 mpg on the dash, Fuelly.com calced 34.6.

Only 3k on the clock on the original oil. Ill be changing it for Mobil1 this weekend. Gotta say, I'm pretty pleased!!

Any of the 6 speed versions break 450-500 on one tank??

470.1 miles/11.176 gallons with a car load of people and over night bags at 65 mph avg on the freeway, but including starts and stops in town and to and from the hotel on that trip.

That was 42.1 mpg give or take. 6 speed DCT almost all highway.

Wow, did you have any mods or anything to achieve that kind of mpg?

I'd assume not. My stock Ti got the aforementioned 45.0 / 486 miles.

Nearly all-highway, cruise at 65 MPH, A/C on, for mostly flat roads. That said, we drove through the Adirondacks on part of the tank and I was having more than a little fun with the DCT in the twisties!

I was running 93 octane. I've come to the conclusion that Premium does help MPGs... but only with tanks of 85%+ highway driving, in the summer.

That is really fascinating. I'll have to check it out to see if 93 Octane really does help. Maybe we can get a group of members on here to do the same and perform a test? Sounds like a pretty good test for us to find out.

I'm too lazy to search right now - but there are tons of threads about it.

Myself and some others have agreed that premium only helps when a) you're driving nearly all-highway, b) it's warm out (summer gas), and c) you drive a relatively steady speed.

Mix in any city / stop and go and it quickly becomes pointless. But my two best MPG tanks (45 and 42) were all-highway on 93 octane in the summer, FWIW.

I can definitely tell the 5 speed could use another OD to bring the revs down a bit. I enjoy the close ratio gearing but Pushing nearly 3k at 70mph is approaching Honda lunacy.

Why on earth would you run E85 on purpose? E85 gets close to 30+ % poorer fuel economy as it has roughly 33% less energy.

The car feels like it runs smoother and pulls harder with E. I am well aware of the difference in energy between gasoline and E, I wanted to try E for a while simply because the car is flex fuel capable and I want to log the differences between the two on my car.
