ST Exhaust

Hey guys. Anyone know what the configuration of an ST exaust is? And if so can this be installed on an SL minus turbo?

Wide shot of the rear valence and exhaust set up. It currently just about touches on the double walled tip. Apparently it looks unfinished to some, but currently the function was more important than the form.

It fits on a n/a 2.0 L Ti-VCT powered Focus with a few caviats, nothing a decent exhaust shop couldn't fix so far. The cat flange bolts right up, but either the first place put it on upside down, or the ST parts are rotated slightly in relation to the exhaust tunnel, so two additional cuts were needed with sleeves welded on the outside to join the pipes back together.

I keep being told that I should have had the shop angle the tips up more and either just notch the stock valance, or to install the ST parts. That is still in the future plans, but the reflectors for the ST are a lot of money for what they are so we'll see.

Thanks again Sam for the parts. It sounds meaner than stock, but not nearly as loud as when it was not assembled properly.

The GTDI cat sits a little more toward the drivers side and the exhaust pipe makes a slight jog just before the (rotated) flange.

Yes, and I did try to say as much, the flange is identical, but the pipes are rotated, so a couple additional cuts and rotate the pipes the right way around, weld it back together and everything fits well and sounds meaner than stock.

Because they rotated the cat on the Turbo it doesn't bolt up directly without cutting and rotating the pipes, but any actual exhaust shop should be able to fix this.

YouTube Video

Very short sound clip of the system installed, although if anything that was quieter in the video than it actually is when revved up.

PoonRacing sold his stock catback, and I took the risk that I could make it work. For $180 for the parts alone it was worth it given even the least expensive magnaflow hatch catback for the n/a is closer to $500 just in parts.

This setup cost maybe $350 installed including the tank of gas and tolls to pick it up, and delivers more like the FSWERKS stealth minus the chambered vs straight through muffler/ resonator design.
