Shifting problem
01 ZX3 5-speed
I have attached a photo where the shift cable seems to be popping up from its housing. Any ideas how to fix it? Sorry it's a crappy cell phone pic. But you can see what appears the white piece grinding down in its housing. ![]() Thanks, Joseph |

Looks like the white plastic part has deteriorated (hardened up) so it's flaking apart as it wiggles instead of just clicking in there tight.
If they work OK otherwise, I'd save the expense & PITA of replacement by loosening that base a bit so I could get a couple LARGE Zip Ties under it, then tighten them around the cables where they are mounted. (then tighten it back down again) That should keep it in place until it gives up completely at least! |

Thanks for the advise Sailor I zipped tied the cable around the base with triple redundancy. Hopefully it should be good for a while.
