The Small Touch: MyFord Touch Confirmed for 2014 Fiesta [2012 L.A. Auto Show]

It was an open secret—we spied a large touch screen on prototypes for the forthcoming Fiesta ST model—but Ford has now confirmed that its smallest car will offer the company’s most ambitious piece of infotainment tech for the 2014 model year.

The Fiesta’s version of MyFord Touch (MFT) will use a 6.5-inch touch screen, which the company decided was the right size for its diminutive center stack. (It’s the same unit that will be used in the new Transit Connect.) Other applications of MFT throughout Ford’s lineup, from the Focus on up, have an eight-inch screen.

The small car’s version of MFT and Sync also will introduce several refinements that will be subsequently rolled out to existing owners and applied to future builds. They include simplified voice commands, easier Bluetooth pairing, revised navigation input screens, and what Ford says is improved voice-recognition software.

2.) HOW do they expect drivers to reach all the way into that little screen box, and push those tiiiiiiiiiiny on-screen buttons?

IDIOTIC! I TRULY HOPE that if I decide to get a Fiesta ST.... I can get it WITHOUT this garbage. Sadly I willmiss out on a rear camera and navigation... curse you, ford executives

You wont miss out on the rear camera. Our Nanny-state nation we live in is requiring backup cameras on all cars and trucks starting, i think, in 2014.
