Tuning the fuel pump?

Anyone done any beneficial work on this?

I'm having a problem with pressure consistency.
Idle, steady part throttle and WOT; pressure is pretty good. It's tip-in and tip-out where I'm having issues. Tip-out, pressure will spike up to ~80psi; then back off to my pressure setpoint (50psi).
I think this is my cause as to why CFSO isn't working as I'm commanding. It takes about 4 seconds, on average, for CFSO to take effect. During that wait time pressure is higher than commanded.
Logging pump voltage, the commanded voltage is also higher than I think it should be under these conditions. So it'd seem I'm on the right track here.

All the internet has to say about it is above my head, though I do understand some of it, even have some programs I could model the system with (Matlab, but I don't know how to use the program well yet).

Anyways, I'm first curious as to what I should log to 'prove' my theory that the FP is my problem?
