Two antennas

In my 2013 SE are two antennas: A black one pointing upwards from the rear of the roof, and another one embedded into the upper portion of my windshield. What are these two antennas each for?

I'm pretty sure the one near your mirror is for your remote start. The other...your radio.

I have no remote start. Is the antenna just there anyway?

Is it possibly not an antenna? Did ford just build a pattern into the glass?

Sent from my iPhone using FF Mobile. Typos and terseness are to be expected.

Here is a photo of the antenna-like structure I'm wondering about.

It's called a third visor frit. It makes up for the space the two sunvisors don't cover. The dot matrix and black surface around the perimeter is to hide what's under the glass and to protect the windshield adhesive from UV light. I install windshields. No U.S. Focuses have Heated windshields.

Very, very cool to know that. Just read the wikipedia article on "frit". Learned a new thing today. Thank you.

Really? What is its purpose? Just decorative?

Where do the sun visors not reach ...

get the idea behind the portion on the windshield now?

Other MFG.'s go about this different ways. VW uses a little flip down piece of plastic,,, which I think I've also seen Toyota use.
