Wheel question

I have 12 focus SEL, and I want to put on a set Konig Lace 17" wheels. But the direction I want to go is 17x7 up front and 17x8 in the rear for the staggered look. What is the max width on th front and rear can I go before the tire rub on the body. I would like to go with the 18" wheels, but I'm afraid of damaging the body when I decide to lower the car. I like the staggered look a lot and I think it would make the car look tougher.

The Ti handling pack comes with 18x8, so you're good there, and there have been lowered cars doing just fine with those wheels.

I think the idea behind staggered wheel width is to get more grip to the driven axle... which is the front on our cars :P but, I think it would look cool too. You may get a few people doing though.

well, if we're talking about really wide wheels and stretched tires, you can physically fit a wider wheel on the back than you can on the front if you are trying to achieve that stance.

There is a lot more to fitting wheels than just the width, also look at backspace and offset.

Then you've also got to determine what tire sizes you'd like to use to keep overall diameter as similar as possible.

My vote would be 17x8 all around, I think it will look better and you'll be able to rotate tires freely.

yeah, the wheels that i was looking at where not the correct ones. But there is a tool out on the market that you can messure the back space, rim width, wheels size, and get the correct offset. I'm going to go find the tool online and purchase it for future use.

So here is the wheels i would like to buy for my 2012.



once i get the correct specs for the staggered fitment, i will post them on here. So that way anyone who decides to go with the staggered wheel combination they can get the wheels they want and not be limited to the same all the way around the car.

Hell once i lower the car is when i will have to do all of the messuring to see if the wheels will even clear the body. The good thing is the rear sheet metal do not have a lip that needs to be rolled. that already done from the factory.
