Urgent! Removing Factory Seat Cover / Fabric?
I accidentally spilled some motor oil (new) on the seat this morning (long story ...).
Is there a way I can pull the seat cover off and get the oil out of it? Seems like it does come off but is anchored in the front some how.

My experience with seat covers is limited to Gen. 1 Foci. In order to remove the seat cover, the seat must first be removed from the car. If it is a front seat, remove the four T-45? bolts from the seat frame rails. Then the wire harness underneath the seat must be unplugged, and, since that harness has SRS (air bag) wiring, the battery should be disconnected to prevent accidental deployment, and/or turning the air bag light on.
The cover fabric is held to the seat pan with " hog rings" which are circular wire rings that need to be bent open with pliers (needle nose worked best for me) and rotated out of the attachment points on the seat pan. The front passenger seat cushion also has a pressure sensing pad beneath the cushion, which turns the passenger side air bag on, so be careful with that. Again, this is from my experience with Gen. 1 Foci, only. Perhaps some Gen. 2 members will chime in on their experience. Good luck. |

It'd be great if you have acsess to a extractor from a detail shop.I'd try blotting it up the best you can. You'd have to pull the seat out & in the back underneath there is a plastic J clip that goes around the metal seat frame & then there is 2 hog ring's on each side & 3 in the front. You'll see it better when you turn the seat over or on its side, on a bench. You'll need dike's, hog ring pliers & a few hog rings.

Tracked down a 2010 to a local junkyard with black leather. Going to see how much the seats are ...
I'm going to try the hog ring method. The drivers seat foam is falling apart too :(
