Air Fuel Ratio
I live in Tucson, Arizona the elevation is just over 2,600 ft, I don't have a any money for a forced induction system, so I was wondering if there was any to tune my air fuel ratio to get a little more power at this higher elevation. If there is an mathematical equation you can give me I'll crunch the numbers. I have a 2000 2.0L Zetec sedan.

Multiply Standard Atmosphere Density by ~0.94 and you'll get about your air density. Air density multiplied over time will give you how much air your engine is ingesting.
Thing is you can't adjust any of it. Least not without needing to adjust other things in the car. On top of which, just adding fuel isn't going to add power. It's the balance of air, fuel and ignition timing that create power. Just changing 1 generally has little effect on power, fuel being the smallest factor. Basically the things to adjust to make power go in this order of importiance, Air Spark Fuel At your altitude, the car is running the same A/F ratio as anyone else. The car automatically adjusts for altitude. If you want more power your best bet is to get the car 'tuned'. That necessitates buying a flash tuner device with custom tuning specific to your needs. 1Turbofocus is the screen name of the guy on this forum to contact form more about that. |
