How do I install HIDs on a 2002 zx3?
So I've been wanting a higher performance headlights for a while now. The stock halogens aren't good enough. I have a 2002 zx3, and how the kits look like online, and my headlight connector it looks like it won't fit? It's just one solid connector at the lower part of the housing.
I kinda don't see why people complain about it really. I've passed some cars with the brightest HID kits in reflectors, and they don't bother me at all. Any way back to the topic, lol. So what kind of wiring would I be doing to install them? Please post pics, and be as imformative as you can. I'm a visual person, and learn by watching other people, or looking at pics. Thank you! By the way, which HID kits are the best? I'm leaning towards the DDM 5000K. I want the brightest, and whitest light. Not the ricey blue, lol. |

4100 - 4300K will be the brightest. the higher you go the more color you will see and less light output
This place is a good resource for HID information an I am not even going comment on the HID in stock housings. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum.php |

There is a how-to here, it's for a 2005 Focus but you can reference it for locations to mount the ballasts.
http://www.focusfanatics.com/howtos/hid_install/ You would need to get H4/9003 kit and it's just a matter of wiring up the ballast and replacing the stock 9003 bulbs with the HID 9003 bulbs. Here are some links to Amazon and eBay where you can purchase the kits. I want to retrofit so bad. How hard is it to install it? Any modification needed? I might just buy the horrible silverstars ultra for now till I can retrofit. I'm needing better headlights because I almost crashed three.times already due to bad distance the OEMs throw. I live off a narrow, curvy, and long road where animals jump i front of you every few feet.

I've seen the how to on installing hids, but i heard you need to buy wire along with the kit, and other places its just plug and play. I know how to install them but it just confuses me

There are few things you can check with your stock headlights to make them work better.
They have headlight restoring kits that can clear up any glazing or fogginess of the outside lens. Also, you can check to see that your lights are aimed correctly. If they are out of alignment and/or pointing down, that could be an issue as well. Your lights are over 10 years old now and might just need some tlc, new bubls will help too. When putting hid's in the stock housing, what most people complain about is the scattering. It may have more light output but its not going to be directed well and possibly have even worse visibility for you. Case in point, this very recent thread. |

Thanks man. I just ordered a DDM 4500k kit last night. I will install them in the stock housings to see how good they are. If not I'll buy the silverstar ultras till I'll be doing a retrofit some time around the holidays. This is only temporary though. Just desperate for any thing. Can you tell me some good instructions for doing a retrofit? |
