Busted battery tray = project time
My battery tray finally gave up the ghost so decided to make one out of 1/2" aluminum
Milled out some nice angled hold downs. The rear one is stationary, and the front one squeezes the battery between the two when you tighten it. Now this thing doesn't budge at all. I was going to pocket mill it 1/4 into the aluminum, but not all batteries are alike, so i just made it mount to the surface. right now it is just band saw cut to the rough shape, but i am going to remove it soon to square and radius mill all the edges to make it a little more visually appealing. Might pocket mill the bottom to make it lighter too. engine bay is starting to look less and less cluttered now that the battery tray, the power steering line, and air box are all gone. look carefully and you can see the stainless power steering line running the perimeter of the engine bay. ![]()

Curious why you changed PS lines and if you've had any issues with it? Looks good though.

Main reason for changing the PS line was because of the svt header, the zx3 one is too close to the header. I bought an svt power steering line (almost $80), and hooked it up. about 2 months after changing it, it began to leak from the swivel fitting, and just got worse and worse over time. I said to hell with that thing, invested $90 in the proper adapters, and proper stainless steel braided power steering hose, and built my own, which is routed nice and out of the way, and has no seals to blow out other than the o-ring fitting right at the rack. Works great. I'm thinking about making a couple kits to sell. Mine is a little nicer than most of the write ups you see on the subject. |
