'01 Zetec, 2.0, 124K miles. Engine has no vibration when in idling in park. As soon as you put it in drive/reverse, horrible vibration, engine banging around, trying to jump out.
I know it sounds like the notorious motor mounts, just wanting to know the best way to check these out, and know which one(s) for sure. Or if there is something else I need to look for. BTW, the DEA mounts on RockAuto are the OEM, right? I see the listing for the hydraulic/passenger side (A3003) and torque strut (A2939), the third mount- is the transmission mount (A2986)? Are these the correct mounts? |

I doubt it. Find the Motorcraft/Ford parts.

No they are not OEM.
Most likely passenger side one unless you feel a clunk either going in gear or rolling off or on the throttle, then trans lower rear one in that case. |

Problem solved! Low coil resistance!
Well.....
Come to find out, my ignition coil was bad. Low resistance on the secondary coil= no/weak spark= severe stalling, which was causing the vibration. The mounts may also be bad, but at this point, I've got the main problem fixed. Thanks to everybody for their help. Hope this helps someone else! Have a good one. |
