Clutch is Slipping
Put a new clutch in when we did the motor swap a few months ago. We noticed something pretty soon after at high RPM's when getting on the freeway between 3rd and 4th gear. Now if it gets hot in traffic it slips pretty bad. The clutch is just one they had available at O'reilly's, but you would think it should work just fine. Thoughts...?

all the time or when hot? Any play in the clutch pedal? Might need to replace the fluid with DOT4 or something like that. The fluid might be bubbling. im no tech so someone should confirm..

Changing the fluid won't help. If you were having problems disengageing the clutch I'd say maybe give it a shot, since that's the only time the fluid really plays any role in the system, the rest of the time it's at rest and just taking up space.
If you're sure you know what a slipping clutch feels like then you'll have to put in a different one, hopefully something from a reputable company this time. I think you'd have other obvious problems if there were anything wrong with the installation. O'reillys should refund your money. |
