2013 Ford Escape Recalled for Fire Risk a Second Time
Ford is recalling 6,146 2013 Ford Escapes equipped with 1.6-liter engines in the U.S. because of the risk of an engine compartment fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is the second time since July that the redesigned Escape has been recalled for a fire risk.

You realize they are using the 2.0 ecoboost in the Explorer, right? Without driving it, that would seem underpowered to me.

The 2.0L EcoBoost i4 makes at least 230-240 hp in this application, or about the same as they were making out of the 3.0L N/A V6 that was still available in the 2012 Fusion, so while it's likely to not be that fast in a 4500 lb Explorer it might not be as overwhelmed as the older 3.0L V6 in the Freestyle when that car weighed in around 4000lbs but with the 201hp version of the older Duratec 3.0L V6. It needed the CVT to get the most out of the engine, but the car was still slightly under powered.

The 1.6L EcoBoost engine is more powerful than the base 2.5L i4 engine while being more efficient off boost. Its also very nearly as powerful as the 2.4L i4 in the Honda CR-V.

The Escape is much nicer to drive than the CR-V as well.
