2.0L head swap for a 2.3L Duratec

Hey. So, my 2.0L Duratec head (2005 Focus) is about to take a $h!t. Can I put a 2.3L head onto a 2.0L bottom end? Has anyone done this swap? Am I crazy or is this possible? Assuming this is okay, would I need a 2.3L harness/ECU? If I have to replace the head I figured I would try and get a little more bang for my buck.

Thanks in advance... be gentle

Yes it can and has been done , I did this swap back in 2005 , it would be best to also swap the 2.3 intake and use the 2.3 cams

I've been looking at doing this paired with a stage 2 turbo, what kind of modification would be required to make this work? Would it be better to leave it naturally aspirated?

Sweet. Any idea as to where I could get a decent 2.3L head, cams and intake? And will the 2.3 bolt right on?

It will bolt right on , I would surface the head about .015 and add some cams , would be the perfect time , then add a tune

What would this do, exactly? And would this be possible on a 2nd gen?

More power. When you bolt a 2.3 head on a 2.0 block, you get instant improvement in flow through the head and can make more HP at higher RPM. Add a header, a decent intake manifold and some stage I or II cams and you can easily get about 180-190 WHP from the 2.0L engine, depending on your tune and type/octane of fuel used.

PS: not sure about the 2nd gen thing... ask around. Someone has to know. In theory, you can.

Is this true? That kind of power at the wheels would be sweet. Everyone would do this upgrade I would think. Does anyone offer this as a package?

This helps me out a lot. I have an 07 2.0L dtec and have been thinking about doing this head swap. Probably would be a good idea to replace your water pump while your at. If you do this let me know what kind of gains you get.

Absolutely. I plan to make the change here in a few weeks. Ill take pictures as I go and upload them when I can. As for a water pump, I am thinking about doing a complete rebuild since I will be replacing the head. Intake, cams, Water pump, rings, alternator, belts, plugs, and maybe even my coil packs.
