Let's make a deal

OK close to pulling the trigger on a Ti and looking for pricing advice:

Current Ford Offers: 2000 cash back or 0% for 60. I'm going to keep the car for a long time so I'm thinking 0% for 60 is the way to go. If I chose that what could I expect to get the car for?

Car details:
MSRP 26,580
2012 Black Hatchback Ti. Leather, Roof, Navi, 18's

Whats the invoice price for this car? Can I expect to get that or better? I see several of these exact setups on Cars.com advertised for 23.5, but those could be BS prices to get you in the door. Opinions?

Also there are 2 dealerships(both 3 hours away from me) that have identical cars, should I pit these guys up against each other? Or should I see if my local dealership would get it for me?

Any input is appreciated

Invoice is probably $2k or so less than MSRP. Every time I buy a car I pit the dealers against each other! I bought my car in June and got 1.75% and $1,500 cash back if that makes you feel better.

Now that the $2k rebate is back you shouldn't accept anything less than $4k off sticker. Just the other day a poster on another thread said they just got like $4,300 off a SE w/ Sport Package. Most dealers are probably advertising around $3,500 off and should be able to be pushed to over $4,000.

then I'd be stuck taking their Ford Financing, probably 2.9 for 60. I'd take it for 4K off plus 0%

Great! As darkangelism said you're better off taking the cash and a rate below 5% than the alternative. 2.9% is a very decent rate. You may be able to get even 1.9% through a credit union.

According to Truecar the invoice is $19k for a standard Ti Hatch. The average for the New Orleans area is $20k

That doesn't seem to be very accurate, from what I've seen or heard the invoice for a Ti hatch is closer to 21k, unless the holdback got that much sweeter by close to 2k.

Make sure you option it out exactly as listed, then ensure that it is the starting price for negotiations. They do not have to go as low as what's listed, but there is still a profit factored in.

Better yet, use the function for emailing the different dealers. Surely two will bite, and you can play them off each other. We saved over $11k on our Armada this way...
