Are silverstars worth it

I had them when I had my F150 and liked the light. I dont drive at night much and do not have DRL either. So would you buy them just to upgrade or just use the stockers?

Thanks.

No. I've bought them 4 times. Each time they blow in less than 4-6 months average. Huge waste of money IMO.

Get Hella High Performance Xenon Blue Bulbs. Ran them off road for years, never had any problems. You can get them at Pep Boys. Don't waste money on Sylvania Silverstar Ultras.

Please don't "just get HIDs" unless you're properly retrofitting your headlights.

Anyone else have experience with these?

Thanks for the advice and the pictures. Makes a world of difference to see it like that.

The supposedly Hellas on the right looks pretty much like a 5000K HID kit to me. No way a halogen would be that white, and bright.

I'm just posting my opinion. I'm also looking for new headlights. Buying me a set of HID 5000K's on Friday. Yes in the stock housings for now so bite me. Doing a complete retrofit some time around Christmas.

I'm also considering buying the silverstars till I can do a retrofit. Any one use these?

Why can't people like you just stop telling people what to do to their cars. It's their cars, and their paying to mod it, not you. I've passed a lot of cars with HIDS in reflector housings, and they never blind me. Oddly enough some cars with halogens blind me the most.

Also helped a co worker install a 55W 5000K kit on his car, and he drove passed me just to see if they blinded me. Nope, not a single problem.

I've had the same set of Silverstars in my car for over a year (the picture was taken on 3/9/11), but judging from what others say about them, I'd go with the Hella's. Maybe I've just had really good luck? Here's a pic of mine. The fog lamps are Silverstars as well. Its not the best picture ever, I took it with an old phone.

I had about four sets also, they blew within a year. The last set both lights blew simultaneously and that was it for me. I had to call someone to bring me new bulbs and it was like 20* outside.
