Focus:

Sentra:

This is tantamount to the recent Chinese knockoffs.

I always thogught the Focus sedan's rear was a bit pedestrian and isn't as destinctive as the front;better coming than going.

Totally agree.

I'm only slightly ashamed to say that I've mistaken other cars for the '12 Focus from afar based on the back end.

The Focus hatch from behind reminds of me of the Saturn Astra and the new Impreza wagon.

Agreed. A friend has the 2012 Impreza wagon. The tails are so similar, except Focus has, in my opinion, better looking taillights.

It is conservative, but I'd rather that than pug fugly like the '96-'99 Taurus.

But still, those Sentra taillights are a near carbon copy. No excuse for that.

True, but you know what they say, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"...

What year did the Sentra have those rear lights? The Gen III Focus has been released in Europe as of 2010 (mid year I think). That means the Focus rear was solidified about 2008 around Christmastime. It would be interesting to see how the design timing lines up.

Don't care either way, about time we got refreshes on the Sentra and Forte, both of them are painfully bland in today's automotive design world.

Taking cues from the Focus means Ford is doing it right.
