Leather squeaks

I just picked up my 2012 Ti HB and noticed a kind of squeaking noise in the back of the car that seemed to be the leather seats. I opened the right rear door and put the right rear seat down then back up and also cycled the arm rest down and back up and the squeak is now gone so it does seem it was the leather that was the cause. So, is there something that can be applied to leather that will eliminate or reduce this squeaking?

hmm.

new leather squeaks man... true for jackets true for seats. just gonna have to let it wear in a little bit. Hopefully we should be seeing real summer weather this week. that should aid in softening up your seats.

It seems that you have solved your issue, but I would recommend treating/protecting the leather with either Leathermasters or Leatherique.

Yeah, I was able to move things and eliminate, for now, the squeak I had, but a leather treatment that reduces or eliminates the condition that causes the sound would be great. I'll have to look up the products you mentioned.

One thing thought ... Lyonsroar has stated that automotive leather has a plastic like coating for protection so I wonder how well these products will do in penetrating the coating to get to the leather.

seriously though, heat will loosen up the seats. ever tried to install leather seat covers? they say to let it sit for a while in some hot temps. don't think today will do it though.

I did a quick search in regards to Leather seats having a plastic film and did not find anything. I would see any type of film to be a long term problem with scratches, and peeling, etc. Proper leather protect does work. I have used Leathermasters on my seats for the past year.
