rwd zetec?

I am looking to do a custom rwd setup on my zx3. I have made up my mind for sticking with the zetec. So my question is, does anyone know of any transmission options that will bolt up to the zetec block? I have found out that a Borg Warner T5 will work with a custom bellhousing, but I was just curious if anyone knew of any other options I can look into.

Thanks in advance for any help.

These guys are your friend. T5 Will work, just like the Lotus7 replica guys use. I don't know of any "stock" RWD trans that the Zetec was put on, though.

^^ definitely worth it.... its a damn nice setup.

edit: looks like they disappeared from that link there.....

I know of another site with all the stuff along with water line routing and whatnot. I will see if I can dig it up and help. I thought about doing this too. MIGHT still do the zetec if all else fails (13B)

Thanks for the advice so far. As for the build, I'm on a budget, so it will be a drawn out process, so unfortunately Turbo Turtle, I don't have funds to buy a rolling chassis. As much as I would love to, I'm not able to. I was able to find the bellhousing needed on quads4rods.com for around $400.

I've also been told that the rear subframe from a early 90's model Thunderbird or mustang are close the same dimensions I would need to run independent rear suspension. I was thinking that some of the Mazda 3's are awd and that might work as well. Anyone care to share some of your thoughts on this?

Bringing up my old thread seeing as I will be getting a shell tomorrow. I've managed to get the motor, bellhousing and transmission information I needed. Now I'm looking into rear ends. I know the mazda 3 uses the same rear subframe for the FWD cars as the focus uses. I wouldn't think that they would change the body or anything between a fwd and awd Mazda, or am I wrong here? So I'm curious if anyone knows, will the awe Mazda rear subframe bolt right into the focus?

I was thinking Mazda 6 and typed Mazda 3, prolly bc i had a Mazda 3 in the shop yesterday. Damn brain fart. So, now that my confusion is hopefully out of the way on that, will the Mazda 6 rear subframe bolt up?
