Loud road noise
Hello fellow FF'ers,
I have a VERY LOUD and annoying road noise on my 2010 SEL, sounds like roaring "4x4 truck tire" or bearing noise beginning at 35mph or so. I took it to the dealership a few months ago and they "said" they changed the front bearings and spindles, and the noise seemed to quiet down a bit, but now its crazy loud agian! I have had the tires rotated and balanced, and keep 34 psi in them as recommended. Anyone else have or knows about an issue like this one? Thanks in advance! Turns out the noise was a worn out, leaking right front "drive axle bearing assy".

I know your new to the site but please do not make the exact same post in multiple sections of the forum here is what i put on your other thread...
is it the stock tires you are running? i had a set of tires that did this but then switched to a different type and its not nearly as bad. There is always going to be some noise with our cars as they are a ecobox not a luxury vehicle. SEL or not they all came with the same amount of sound proofing. You could dynamat the entire floor of the car along with the doors and it will be sooo much quieter. If your not handy enough to install on your own, many audio shops and best buy will install it. I recommend getting it off amazon though. 36sqft is $300 from stores and shops. The same bulk box of 36sqft is $125 shipped on amazon

Yup!
Had ONE bad tire, of a set of four "cheapo's" that came on the car when I bought it used (brand new tires BTW) that gave me a sound like a bad front wheel bearing that showed up AFTER the used car warranty ran out.... kept looking things over without finding an obvious problem, and then decided to rotate tires because ONE of the fronts had a lot of balance weight on it & there was a SLIGHT "wiggle"... Once THAT tire was on the back, problem solved..... |

Got the car back today- and its much quieter, just normal small car noise! The dealership removed and replaced a right front " drive axle bearing". It was leaking, too. Lets hope it last.
Thanks for all the replies!

This has just started on mine with 1800 miles. I had high hopes as this is my first Ford and first American car (have owned several Mercedes, and still own one), and I'm amazed that I could have a defective axle bearing - from the factory? My compass is also stuck on N, and the driver window "barks" when it goes down. I could expect some electronic gremlins/trim issues, but this seems pretty poor. What else should I expect
