SPI Engine Blow Up Survey

[1990 GT-X]

I have a friend that had yes had a 2003 SE with the SPI engine in it. He had 106,000ish miles on it when it dropped the valves and blew the engine. That is kinda scary considering i have the same car and i'm getting close to that millage on mine. What i would like to ask is how many of you had the same thing happen and what was the millage on your car when it did. I would like to get a survey to collect as many millage incidents as possible so i can get an idea on how long i have before in need to do something to my car. So please if you guys can post here or PM me with the millage on your car when the valves dropped. Thanks.

I have gone threw 11 of these cars,the seat has dropped as early as 77k and as late as 220k.

Yup that's what I've heard, some go way early some will just go and go and go. The proof's in the reading lol

i did this thread like a month ago. im at like 101k now and still running strong. but i did buy another car just in case so i have something to drive while i fix the focus

Mine blew up at 156k.

As far as this thread looks like I'm the old vet: 176k & the old girl ate it in the driveway of a Taco Bell a week ago. 30k of rental mileage, & 10 years in service.
