Where to buy Door seals at???

I searched the forums but didn't find what I was looking for!

I have a 2001 Focus Wagon, and the passenger side door is leaking at the door seal. (I see a hole through it)

I was wondering where is the best/cheapest place to get the seal so i can replace it?

Thanks

Best replacement is the "Dealer" part, & cheapest is through our Focus internet dealer sources of Hilbisch or Tousley.

if you're near the Carolinas, it would be Hilbisch, Since you're closer to Tousley in Minneapolis, I'd recommend them - since I've got good advice & cheap parts from them myself...

"unobtanium" is often avail. through Steele rubber products for ALL older or "collector" cars...

IF it's not avail. from Ford, MANY shapes & sizes are avail. at an auto parts store like NAPA.

Take a sample with you, or draw a diagram of what it would look like from the side (as in a cross section view) plus a measurement of the width & height.

Looking at their catalog of weatherstrip in the store, you'll see a shape picture, dimensions, and often common uses listed.

Same basic style & size will work, even if not identical.

They'll sell you official weatherstrip cement as well, since except for odd places like the extra piece at the bottom of our doors MOST is glued on.

luck!

FWIW - "Factory" or "Reproduction" pieces of weatherstrip are the easiest to use & give the best results simply because they are "pre-fitted" with the correct bends, sometimes even welded or connected in a loop for the best fit. Bulk rolls are cheaper, but installation will be more involved & a bit tedious if you are to get acceptable results.

Plan on at least one "gooey" finger, when dealing with the cement you need to spread it on both parts - let it "tack up" - then carefully place the weatherstrip. I like to reserve an index finger for spreading, then DON'T touch anything else with it! Practice a way to hold the strip glue side up before starting (like with some weights on a piece of cardboard). Otherwise it's likely to curl around & get stuck to everything nearby!

Hope this helps.....

Try our vendor "Village Ford" <-- linky and see if they have factory weatherstrip. We get big discounts from them, so hopefully you can get the part you need.
