Traction control on a car W/O it?

Help me brainstorm a way to do this without using the wheel speed sensors, if possible.
Should I just set the RPM limiter low, around 4,500rpm?
Or is there a way to limit TQ by vehicle speed? (which I believe would back off ignition timing to reduce power)

I'd like to reduce throttle response for winter and set up some type of traction aid, however crude.

In years past I've just restricted air coming into the engine and that did alright. Wasn't perfect by any means though. I'd like something better so I don't sit and spin every time I stop/start.

A larger cam the throttle cable winds around at the Throttle body would give you what you want.
By making it bigger around, foot movement on pedal will reduce response, and the total pedal movement to floor will not result in WOT.
(If you made up a new cam you should allow the wire to start nearer. so the cable does not have to be changed in length to fit)

Depending on your ECU code and if SCT has it working in your code , play with the TQ limit tables for 1,2,3,4,5 gears , there load vs rpm

Seems to work. I changed 1st gear from 510 down to 100, figure a drastic change ought to be noticed, lol. Below ~4,500rpm it definitely works. It's kinda like a studder box.
I'll have to fine tune it once the snow flies but this looks very promising, and should serve me well at the track, if I can get the high RPM thing figured out ... might just be that my VSS isn't calibrated correctly.

But thanks Tom. I'd seen those tables but didn't think they'd work in a MTX. Nice that they do though.
And is that how Fernando does the boost by gear thing?

There is a lot of pritty kool stuff to play with in the software , the calibrators software has a lot more play toys and that all I will say
