Vehicle health report

After my first oil change and multi point inspection, and 1700 miles on the car I decided to do a vehicle health report. I went to Syncmyride and read the report and it said my brakes need attention. Must be a glitch, because the dealer checked my brakes the day before, and I had just driven it home without any problems or idiot lites going off. Anyone else have any erronious health reports?

Canadians do not have the ability to use this feature for what ever reason.

Just a question why such a quick oil change on a brand new car?

According to the manual first maintenance is at 20K miles? am I missing something?

First maintenance does not mean the same thing as oil change... the average oil change for a car should be about every 3000 miles... however, it's more down to how the car is used and thus the intervals change based on usage.

K I thought it was a little wierd.
That did seem like a huge interval... anyways found it in the manual:

Normal: 7500-10000
Severe: 5000-7499
Extreme: 3000-4999
Do not exceed one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km) between
service intervals

Pg 386-387.

Ofcourse changing your oil more often doesn't hurt the car.

Every 3000 is how it use to be. Now you can go much much longer between oil changes. My last car was a MINI and like the new Focus, the car tells you when it is time. And how often is based on how you drive the car. For me, that usually translates to over 10,000!

If your changing every 3000 miles - you're wasting a lot of money.

Exactly. Use synthetic and run it for 10k or 1 year.

It's a good idea to change the oil fairly quickly on a new engine in order to get any initial particulates out of there. You should not go 20,000 miles before your first oil change, especially with only a synthetic blend.

Some of us did an early oil change or two, figuring that the engine break-in contaminates the oil very quickly. I did my first one at 1,500 miles. Next one at 5K on the odometer. I'm going 5K-10K thereafter.

The VHR report card codes are entered by your dealers service department. I'm sure they entered the wrong code by accident.
