Extra HP out of the 2.0L 2012 Focus Ti-VCT?

Hey Peeps,

I am just inquiring in general, about simple mods for my 2012 focus. I don't get it till April 29th, but I want to take it right back in for the weekend to have a few things done. I am above average with mechanics, but I actually want anything I do to this car to be done by Ford directly, for warranty purposes. Sounds lame, but I know a mechanic at a dealership, so it actually works out to be a pretty good deal. I also have the peace of mind.

In any event, can anybody make recommendations for relatively cheap, but effective, and clean looking performance mods? Intake and exhaust where already considered. I want about 180HP or so.

Any ideas are certainly welcome.

Well its not going to be an EcoBoost however I'm sure drop-in filters will be available soon after launch.

I thought it was called an ecoboost, but I trust you. I really have no idea :)

No, we still get the Duratec with this one. Albeit with Direct Injection, and Ti-VCT. The ecoboost is the 2.0L with twin Turbos. Or the 3.5L With Twin turbos. You might be thinking of the GM Ecotec, which is their "duratec" Standard DOHC 4 cylidner.

Finding 20hp in a new 160hp engine will be not be easy, that would be a 12.5% increase. You may find a drop in K&N filter soon as already mentioned. I would be happy with finding 5-10hp to start with.

Do a google search, the new Ecoboost 4 cyl will single turbo, the 3.5L V-6 ecoboost is twin turbo.

Hey Outlaw, I think you are right, I am thinking of the GM engine.

In any event, does anyone have any other ideas?

-Cold-air intake
-Full Exhaust
-Race Headers
-Tune

If any of these are even available...but they should easily net you 180+ HP done right.

Once someone figure out how to tune it you will be all set, direct injection with VVT should be very tunable

Agreed. With dual VVT you can work wonders. Uncork the intake & exhaust and get a good tune. But that's going to give you some warranty issues. :-(

The ecoboost engines are as follows: The 3.5L is a twin turbo, the 2.0L is a single turbo.

Nah, just flash it back to stock before you take it for warranty...

I'm hoping this new motor is as tunable as the 3.7 and 5.0 mustang motors are. Those engines with similar VVT have proven very tunable. I wonder if they can do a cammed tune on a 4 cylinder? haha.
