You guys with an 08+ probably know that to add gauges in your ride require some ingenuity. There is no model specific gauge pod for the 08+. There is universal one I got from glow shift. It doesn't fit perfect, but it works.

Anyway, I have an aftermarket headunit that uses the converted double din panel. I made a paper template for now. Next, I'm going to make the panel from plastic and mold it into the center panel and paint it flat black. Eventually all of the silver dash pieces will be flat black. That will give me the room to add gauges. I'm going to add a volt and oil pressure gauge. More pics to come!!

Did some work over the weekend. I used the paper template to cut out a piece of plastic that would fit into the slot. Once I cut it out I used some quick drying glue to tack it in place. After that, I used two part 5 minute epoxy and ran the glue around the inside of the piece for final placement and strength. Once dry I blocked the face of the dash panel with 100 grit. This helped cut down on any high spots. I then used body filler to smooth everything out.

First coat:

Sanded first coat and tested gauge placement:

I will need a few more coats of filler to get everything level. After that it will be filler primer. More pics to come.

I would do that, but with the PAC unit I have to use with Sync, the display still works. If the display was totally disconnected, I would go that route. If you decide to do that, throw up some pics man!!

Did a little more work.....

All smoothed out

Boxed in

First shot of primer

I'm going to drill the holes for the gauges next, then block the primer. This will knock off any low spots. After that, another shot of primer.

Sean, after the holidays I can stop up and see what you would like to do with the SVT.
