Yellow arrow pointing up on gauge cluster???

Hello. I've gone into the search section to try and find any answers but no luck. I have a 2002 ZX3 and on my gauge cluster, there is a yellow arrow that is pointing up that comes on only when I his my gas pedal. Also, when I do press on my gas pedal, my car jerks a little as if I gave it a lot of throttle and that's when the light comes on. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix the problem???

That's your manual transmission up shift indicator light. Shift to the next highest gear when the light comes on for the best fuel economy.

^^That's the $64,000 question, right there. Assuming it's a manual, that would indeed be the shift warning light. All that does is show You when to shift, mainly for fuel savings optimization. Nothing to write home about, but if Your looking for maximum fual savings, then that would be when You shift.

yup, it'll actually come on twice, the first time is the shift point for optimal fuel economy, the second time is when you are approaching red line.

LOL@ disciplerocks.

Thanks to everyone. I just recently bought the car used and it didn't come with the owners manual so the arrow was just annoying me thinking there was a problem already. LOL. Thanks for clearing that up for me guys!

A tune will change the shift points, raise the redline and increase the 'fun' factor 10 fold!

How much would a tune roughly cost me?

I'm also curious about this. My car needs a tune. I'm in 3rd gear within like 7 seconds of casual driving. Then I'm in 3rd for a year, lol. It's ridiculous. There is NOTHING to my 1st gear, lol.

And yeah, that shift indicator light. I don't even notice mine anymore.
