My first day on the drag strip...

Well, I went to the drag strip for the first time ever yesterday, and I only got two runs in cause it rained us out. I'm not too happy with these times, but I'm not sure if the conditions had to do anything with it. Temp was 16 celcius, evelation 670 metres (1500ft) and humidity at 78%.

I have the Steeda Short Ram and STS, and I installed the TC switch....but first run I still feathered the clutch from about 4500rpm, shifts at about 7200rpm. I thought my start was pretty good...guess not, here is the data for my first run:

Oh, you can watch the video of my first run here

R/T: 0.678
60': 2.484
330: 7.091
1/8: 10.782
MPH: 67.11
1000: 13.938
1/4: 16.572
MPH: 85.99

What do you guys think? The guy beside me ran 12.49, hahaha, it looks like I'm crawling in the video... But hey, on the track, I could have taken 90% of the cars there...

Second run I decided to drop the clutch from about 4k, and my wheels started hopping a bit, so I had a bad start and finished at 17 seconds. Then the rain came...

I wish I had more than 2 runs so I could practice, but I guess I'll have to wait.

Wow that other car really made you look like you were standing still. Don't get discourage, when I went to the track (1/8 mile), all the cars there were running 7's. Needless to say, I felt kinda slow.

For the first time I think you did pretty good.
Believe me I sucked my first few track runs, my poor SVTF, I run some horrible time's in my baby at first..

Don't worry, for the first few times expect a vary in times.

Exactly, where you able to drive a car perfectly the first time you tried? Keep trying, and things will get better.

Wow, you were gentler than I thought you would be hehe,

I was wondering though...when you guys launch, do you drop your clutch (assuming you have the TC switch), or do you still feather the clutch? It seems to me that my fastest runs are with no tire spin, which makes me wonder why I made the TC switch...

The best technique is to feather the clutch.. my very first run at the drag strip ever got me a 15.4..then i ran again and got a 15.3 and then my third run because i dropped the clutch got me a 15.9 so keep practicing. Btw ur reaction time doesn't matter if ur running for times because it doesn't start until u cross the line. Anyways Good luck with ur next visit to the track
