2 way vs 4 way speakers for SQ

2 way or four way speakers

I have seen the pioneer 4 way speakers and the infinity kappa series, the infinity to me has a better name brand and there higher cost so that would seem like its the best choice however I have a 400 watt 4 channel amp that im going to be running these off of.

Should I get a 2 way or four way speaker and shouldn't the 4 way speakers sound better?

I will have an audiobahn 1000 watt sub running so bass is not an issue.

I do not have any 4way speakers... but I truly think they are overkill.

I've heard from friends that they are too bright.. I mean, come on, they have the normal woofer then a tweeter and supertweeters??

Pioneer has the TS-A6990R.. that's a 5-way speaker.. I would not want to even think about hearing that!

I assume you are talking about coaxial speakers. Stay with the two-way.

The 3, 4, and 5way coaxials are lesser quality and don't have optimal crossovers.

If you want better sound quality you'll need 2-way (or 3) component speaker sets hooked to an amp. Component sets have xovers with way better capacitors, coils, etc.; hence the bigger size.

4 way is way to much in one speaker. Go with 2 way or even better yet, get a component set, way better than any 'combo' speaker IMO....

so then real quick which 2 way coax speakers would you guys suggest and which 2 way components would you suggest?

Yes I will be running these off an amp.

I mostly listen to classical and trance music so SQ is most important.

everyone has differnt preferances.

go to your local shop and listen to the options. pick out the ones you like the best for the amount of $ you want to spend. install them in your car and be happy.

3 and 4-way 6 inch speakers are just marketing gimmicks to attract the inexperienced!

300 is my spending limit Im looking to order the setup today off of ebay.

I would like to stay with the 5 * 7/ 6 * 8 setup if possible.

The best I have seen on ebay are these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...713179796&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...714076303&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...714268105&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...714874961&rd=1

So far all I have purchased for my ride is:

600 watt 4 channel amp
Audio bahn 12q
JBL 1200.1 amp
So I need in car speakers
and a sub box.

SInce I work at best buy I can get the wiring kits for dirt cheap but there equipment sucks imo
But they will do the installation of this stuff for me once Im done buying it all.

But I refuse to install any of that stuff until I have the whole setup as it will sound ghetto.

For classical music you should try to find a speaker with a tweeter that you like...I have similar music tastes and for me the best for my ear was Boston Acoustics which most people love em or hate em and MB quart.
