Sort me out?

Mods, if I posted this in the wrong section I apologize and please more accordingly. I am probably looking for some of the Spec Focus guys to help answer this. I cannot seem to sort this out in my head and just looking for some clarity.

Currently I have an 02 SVTF. I am looking to grow this car into some autocross and track days. I more am looking for a track setup, then run it in whatever autocross class I end up in. Now I have viewed and read all the rules for spec focus and hopefully I have grasp on the basics of what is allowed and not. I believe this setup to be quite sufficent for what I would like to accomplish with the car. This is all stated so anyone answering this has some understanding of my intentions for the car.

My confusion comes with the damper part numbers allowed in the series. What is the difference between M-18000-ZXM and M-3000-ZXM? If I have researched properly I think the M-3000-ZX3 comes OEM on the SVTF. Is that correct? I understand they are made by dynamic, really what I am trying to figure out is what does the M-18000-ZXM offer different than the M-3000-ZXM?

The 18000-ZXM kit is just dampers. The 3000-ZXM kit has the same dampers included in the 180000 kit but also includes springs. The 30000-ZX3 kit is the SVT springs and shocks with rear sway.

Thank you Geezer, you have always been helpful with my questions.

Looking at the price of the part numbers from Ford, M-3000-ZXM is $395 and M-18000-ZXM is $549. Now from what you are saying is the M-18000-ZXM is only dampers where the M-3000-ZXM is the same dampers with springs. Looking at the price difference between the two the rational is not there. Why would the kit with more be less money? This is going purely off of logic here. I cannot believe that to be correct.

M-3000-ZXM

M-18000-ZXM

From it looks like the 18000-ZXM kit is more of a track only set of dampers where the 3000-ZXM kit is a street/track kit. I am guessing there is a llittle more valving or construction put into the 18000-ZXM dampers and that is where the value reflects in the price.

Call Capaldi, they prepare Spec Focus cars and sell both kits as well. They should know if there's any difference between the Dynamic shocks in the two kits. Please report back their answer.
