Complete Newb

Ok so I am going to attend FocusFest....and it will be my first drag ever. I have an 05 2.0 ATX. What is the best way to launch an ATX vehicle??? I have no idea, so any and all tips are welcome.
Thanks!

Footbrake. Stand on the brake and give it gas (practice on a back road but I will guess you can hold it up to 3000 rpm), then release the brake on the last yellow.Don't wait for the green or you will get owned.

learn how to use your left foot to brake so you can do what he said ^
practice launching in an appropriate area (track, backroad, etc)

That's pretty good advice.

Since you are new, I would concentrate on getting good reaction times first.

Luckily there will be quite a few drag experts at FF08 that can give you pointers on what to do. Don't be afraid to ask.

I obviously agree with going on the last yellow however that isn't exactly true. If you are itchin' for that last yellow and you hit it as soon as you see the last yellow, your going to redlight I guarantee it.

You have to anticipate the green, the green is going to light up just as fast the the 3 yellows did so you basically have to time it in your head. It's hard to explain but once you a do it a few times, it's a cakewalk for most.

Yep, exactly what I do when I drag my focus. Just don't go too early.
Also, See you at FocusFest.
