Drag Tips?

Me and a couple friends are going to racelegal May 2nd and I was wondering if anyone has any tips? The trap speeds vary from 74.04 MPH to 76.01 MPH and I KNOW that is good enough for ATLEAST mid 9's but I just can't pull it in at racelegal because the track is such crap. I get axle hop ALL the time, so any tips?

id say just drop your launch RPM a bit....in my SVT i have to dump the clutch at about 4900 just to get my car to move off the line lol

i launch my zx3 at 2500... with an lsd i'd do more but over 2500 i get some bad wheelspin/hop

how much time you got on a track??? lets start there.

im sure you know you can drop a few psi's from the front tires for better traction. and take out spare tire/jack for a few hundreths of a second off. lol and the seats for a couple more...

but honestly, especially on an 1/8th mile track, all you can do to better your time is just practice your launch.

what RPM are you launching at that gives you wheel hop? try 500 rpms less and see if its better? i dunno im just throwing the obvious out there... its late!

Actually the tire jack and passenger seat are over 100 lbs. 100 lbs is a tenth of a second in the quarter. In the eighth I'm sure its valuable also.

As far as everyone addressing the launch rpm's why don't we address what comes before the launch? The burn out. Are you doing it and on what kind of tires? How are you doing it? If your tires are not hot then you need to signifigantly lower the rpms at launch, closer to 3000

He's running street tires so he doesn't need to do a full burnout. Just need to drive around the water box and spin the tires over a few times to get the tires clean.

^^ exactly. Thats why I asked. I've got 5$ thats says he's doing a burnout, getting water up into the wheel wells and then its dripping back down onto the tires at the starting line.

Do you have stock motor mounts? If so, the rear mount alone can cure a lot of wheel hop issues.

I have driver mount and rear mount and get axle hop like you wouldn't belive.

I do not do a burnout actually, I drive around the water and get the tires a little hot but past the water.
