Silly Moonroof question
ok im real close to getting my focus(really debating over an 03 svt or an 04 2.3 really) and i really like the moonroof option. my question is does it only raise up?(the guy who showed me the svtf knew nothing and said only up but didnt know how to work) or does it also slide back? also i got one more little question to the svtf guys/gals out there. whats your average city mpg(ive searched but most of it is freeway mpg im a student so its all city for me atm)?
thanks phillip

It slides back and pops up. average is about 20 mpg. Your going to have fun with a SVT in open areas but in the city the car is a bit much unless you go soft on it. Economicly the 2.3 would be best. The SVT hast to use 91 octane while the 2.3 can use the 87.

Combined I'm around 28 but I don't put my foot in it alot...only when necessary..when no one's around and my wife can't hear me winding 2nd, punching into 3rd screaming around the last corner and timing the garage door just right...sliding into the slot on the right and having the moonroof close all in one fell swoop. Other than that I'm still "breaking her in"..the car I mean.
Moonroof..1 touch to raise the back, 1 touch to close..or you can just tap it open a smidge. 1 touch to fully open..(slide back INTO roof, not on top) 1 touch to close, or again..tap it to open a skoshe or anything in between. You'll make the right the choice.

Looks like the moonroof question got answered.
Gas mileage in city conditions. My worst was 24.5mpg, which was the first full tank of city driving, and just over the 500 mile mark. Same conditions at 1,900 miles now, is showing 26.2mpg.

If you want GREAT mpg.. skip the SVT .. Its fun to drive, but compared to an AUTO or a 2.3... it'll be a gas hog. Even worse it only takes 91+. (At $2.09gal lately.. its getting to be $$$$)
**I don't however think the extra $$ for gas is an unfair trade for what you get! Power, Style, Handling, "Status", etc... Its all worth it! (Not to mention the limited amount made....) I'd say get an SVT... but I might be a little Bias

I always found that I got better gas mileage with a Manual than an Auto. But I agree, if gas mileage is your driving factor you'll do better with the 2.3 but you won't be terrible with the SVT and you are getting all of the other great things about the SVT.

I'd get an SVT. For two reasons. Out of the box it's a nice peppy car that Looks pretty damn good. It also has an aftermarket for it, not as great as the zetec, but it's there. As for the 2.3 pzev, the engine is now dead. It ran for a limited 03-04 run and in 05 there will be 2.0 duratecs, 2.0 pzev duratecs, and a 2.3 duratec. So i'm not sure how much that will effect the aftermarket for the current 2.3 pzev engine. The only positive thing is, the 2.3 pzev is fairly quick out of the box too, if you add a few moderate mods you will hang with the svt and have better gas mileage.
