Fastening Cup Holders to Center Console
I came up with this idea because I lost one of my cup holders due to them not being fastened down.
Here is a quick easy mod to fasten down your cup holders while retaining an OEM look. What you need: Drill plus Drill Bits Utility / Exacto Knife Philips Screwdriver Plastic Fasteners Here's a photo of the fasteners. I bought them at NAPA Auto Parts ![]() Install: First use a utility knife to cut out a hole in the center of the cup holder (the part the sits in the hole in the center console) Then stick a fastener through the hole and see if it fits well. Adjust the hole if needed. To fasten the cup holders down, remove the screw from the fastener and slide the bottom portion of the fastener into the hole on the center console (while the fastener is through the cup holder). Try putting the screw back in. This should push out the sides of the fastener, making it too wide to come out of the center console. If the screw will not go back into the fastener, widen the hole in the center console with a drill. Dont stick the drill down too far; there will be wires and stuff under there. Here is a photo of the end result: ![]() Let me know if anything in this write up is unclear. Also can this be put in the How-To Archive?

i just removed the holder, cleaned it and the area it goes in good, then wiped both down with an alcohol pad. have some sticky velcro that i adhered a couple pieces of to the bottom of the holder with the other piece attached. simply pressed it down and gave it a little bit of time. now its solid and removes easily.
either way works, but the velcro is reversible

Nice!
My wife is always complaining about them coming out with her water bottle or what ever. This should fix that problem real nicely.

That's true that velcro is real reversible, goinloco1. It's a pretty nice idea. We could make this the 'cup-holder solutions thread, haha.
Anyways, I wanted to fasten the cup holders down without using any adheasives, so i chose to use those fasteners.

Yup, I did the velcro mod to mine. I got tired of chasing my cup holders all the time.

Worked great!
Did it Sunday while doing my wash, my wife was out shopping, it took 10 minutes and cost $2.02 for the parts.
