well...first off, this mod rocks! the kit is pretty simple. although i paid my mechanic to pull my shaft out....hehehe....(get it?) i could have done it myself, i just didnt want to. as for gains...well heres my input. the shaft assembly alone weighs 18lbs! 6lbs of that is rotating. i noticed a slight difference in performance and faster revs....plus thoes two shafts are spinning at twice the rpm as you motor.....i dont like that.anyway this has still been my most favorite mod.

I just finished mine today, and I'm pretty pleased with it. You can feel every vibration the engine makes, which I think is what alot of people like about it.
Throttle response was good, power gain was marginal as far as the butt-dyno is concerned, but like strung said, 18lbs of car is gone. All in all it took me about 3 hours to do by myself (that includes riding my bike to the tool store to get a tool that I broke) The hardest part by far is getting the dang oil pan off the engine block. Other than that, you just have to be willing to get dirty (really dirty) and know how to use a wrench.

and also...remember you will need 1 full quart of oil after the shaft removal....and there was a 2-3 hp gain.

I can tell a difference of before and after, but if you didn't know it was there, you couldn't tell a difference. Good mod for the money, but you have to be willing to work for it. The oil pan is a pain to clean up...all that silicone that is left behind was about 30 minutes of buffing and sanding off.
Just remember, after the mod, your ST will hold 6 qts of oil. Remember that if you let someone else change the oil in your car. |

They are stupid easy to take out... it takes about 1 hour if you work slow and dont have air tools... You guys want to take out a hard BS assembly, do it to a DSM with the motor in the car.... you have to pull the whole front part of the crank case housing off because one of the shafts run off the oil pump...
In short, its very simple and does make a differnce... think of it like not running with you air conditioner on, and off... except to a lesser extent... but you will feel a difference and motor just feels free to do what it wants instead of having to run an extra whatever on it crank power.. parasitic drag, baby... gotta hate it
