sdwndr85, why are you complaining about the SVT when you don't even have one?? Some of us that have them like them very much, thank you. I wouldn't exactly call the engine in the SVT a piece of crap, it's got a lot of good engineering in it. At the time it came out it was ahead of everyone else - the problem is everyone else caught up pretty fast and Ford hasn't done much to fix that. I can't believe this thread is still going, lots of old stuff getting dug up lately...
we are brothers basically. I just a little bit older. ESCORT = FOCUS what a perfect combination. It is ashame that the escort were treat like shit and they were not made how they should be.
I agree with janux on that one. That Focus Rs and Cosworth are very nice cars. I would expect a good turnout. Please and I mean please come out with a car that has AWD. There would be a lot of people out there who would like that. Don't worry I'm not the only one.
Focus RS & Cosworth are definately cool cars. Better than average performance, with average looks. Could be a tuner though (to those who are willing to break the mould). Ford had to be scared of the new GM Chevrolet Colbalt though. I saw both versions at the Detroit autoshow, and they are a cut above the focus. With this car you can support the domestic economy and get a higher quality car with an asian interior, and a north americn (best) powertrain. Ford will have to work very hard to bring the awsome focus up to the leval of the cobalt
The RS & Cosworth would go over well with the Focus fanatics. It may also draw a few potential WRX and Evo buyers. However, I can't see many Americans putting more money down for a car that would most likely cost more than a Mustang or a BMW. Also the majority of people who buy a Focus, buy it because of the low price tag. I think Ford should spice up its already well liked SVT model with a body kit and tubo or supercharger. A AWD option would be very nice too.[thumb]
I cant believe that your suggesting you'd rather a 2.3 duratec over a 2.0 powered cosworth unit. If Cosworth have anything to do with it. I' sure it will be FWD. Theres a Focus not far from me with a Cosworth engine and various extra's and its pushing 517 bhp! with NOS as an extra.
I own a focus RS and have to say though it is front wheel drive it has been widely document that it will take evo’s and scoobys on a track, I would take it over any scooby, I am partial to the evo’s but will be waiting for a few years until the cosworth is released.
There are a few RS’s which are pushing 300 bhp at the moment, one I think will break it this week when it is on the rolling road. Look at this link http://www.sccperformance.com/
BUT I am working in the USA at the moment and I am seriously considering importing my RS as I am driving a company tarus! big difference I can tell you.
Someone has touched on this earlier but in the USA the focus is thought to be cheap transport whereas in Europe it is regarded in a similar category as a golf, hence the price

Id be soo happy if they did bring one to the us!! Isnt the Crossworth and the RS dont they have more Horse power than the SVT and dont they both have all wheel drive sence the RS is Rally Sport?
I see a few of the other FRSOC members posting here, so decided to join the party[thumb] [thumb]
The FRS is a beast and if Ford continue their recent success in WRC, I hope we can expect an AWD 300BHP Cossie, based on the new Focus (perhaps 2005/6).
Expect it to be £25-30k tho! You guys do seem to get the turdy end of the stick, when it comes to hot Fords (of the non-V8 kind).
Had no idea the Focus was so cheap over there.....at those showroom prices, everybody should be running supercharged or turboed motors, with FRS wide wings and Bumpers on[thumb]
good to see some more of the bbsrs in here!
i am really begining to suffer the worst withdrawl symptoms... what keeps me going is the thought of the money i make/save here in the usa will make my rs go a lot harder when i get home to her!
I'd be interested in an all wheel drive that can woop the wrx's and the evo's. Those cars are clumsy especially the wrx. The focus is more zippy. I'd go 30 large, provided there is better suspension than the crap in the svt.
if you could drive one you'd pay $30 no questions.. trust me
