there is a g and w event at vir (virclub.com) nov 29 and 30th. there are 12 foci registered so far with others coming to watch. there is no charge to come out, only to run. we are trying to make this an annual g2g for track foci. hey vinnie. come on down.
most of the foci coming have never been on track. there are run groups for every level. this is not a race. passing only on the straights with a passby signal.
Ashley, its a lot of fun and pretty safe.. they will only want to go as fast as you are comfortable, they have different groups for dif. paces on the track.. Go watch and see what you think and you can run if you like or just watch...warning...Gary can back this up...it is addictive. Gary does she need any gear or to do her radiator to go on the track?? I hope to see you there if I can, see my post in regionals!
only a snell approved helmet. as a group we are bringing extras. i'm bringing 3 myself. good to hear from you vin. i couldnt get on this site for a while. and addictive is not the word. there are three run groups for street cars and one for race only. it is an incredible deal. we signed up early and paid 225 for two days, a banquet, two free drinks and a nice shirt. even those of us w/track experience are going in the green group so we can help 1st timers out. and we will hold pretrack lesson as several of us have experience as on track instructors.
Well, I could give it a try. I'm not saying that I've decided yet. I always get nervous about things like this. Heck, I never know, I might get addicted!
zx3 after all these years doing it i still get nervous sometimes. keep in mind i wasnt nervous when i started road racing because i was hotshot 19 year old. now i know better. still if you like going fast you cant beat it. no tickets only rewards when youre the fastest. and a great group of people. i met vin in july a summit point during a nasa event. good guy. it is a rush. and if you hate the way most people drive on the street this is much better. very few aholes and most of the time were all going in the same direction.
Yeah, I met Viney about 2 weeks ago at a meet that we had. He's a cool guy. Well, I see your trying to talk me into it[hihi] ...I'll give it some thought.
Its the safest place to go fast there is plenty of run off if you make a mistake..and trust me...no one will pick on you or make fun ( Gary I know you are married like me...but she's got long hair andsd a sweet accent lol).. Trust me people are so happy to see someone trying their sport that they will give you all the help and advice you could want, go and take a look if you can , you can go and watch..you have the perfect car for it.. Gary, that is a great deal..we do the all day test and tunes at summit for $ 125 and they rock, and we don't even get fed...but you car guys always were a little shall we say stuffier...[] [thumb]
Well, whenever Aaron decides to get back online I'll see what he says. I think he metioned this before to me but he decided not to go because he didn't know how to autox.
BTW, viney, you better watch it mister.....I don't want your wife comin' after me[] [] I thought you were making fun of my accent cause I'm "southern" LOL
its outside of danville. it is gorgeous. we are running the full course at 3.27 miles and 130 feet of elevation change. go to www.virclub.com. there are pictures and a video. turbo tom will be there with really fast car. lots of people coming just to hang out w/their foci. if you need any other info pm me for my tollfree work #. and viney its great to be back. i was too friggin lazy to find out why i couldnt log in.
Yeah I should have mentioned danville, I will see what I can do to come. Also, there you go.. for evereyone who has wanted to see tom's car ( I would like to see ) it Show up, see some great foci's and um some more great foci..
Yeah I saw a magazine article on his car and he posts on here alot, the thing looks like its only limited by the tire size as far as power goes, looks cool, I love silly cars, you would appreciate this I drove the morgan aero8 the other day, rover v8 and the lot, sweet car, but a def. enthusiast beast, I would love to have something like that on the street for sunday a.m.
If, for some reason, I don't give my wife's friend the Contour, I wouldn't mind building a nice handling vehicle. I rode in a Contour with the SPAX Euro handling kit and it was awesome. I went out and bought the kit but haven't but it on yet.
It was my fault, Garyk and I got talking about summit point, real close to you, and Vir in the same thread. Vir is further away, but a beautiful roadcourse. Nice place, I also like the down home atmospere of summit point.. Anyway, I will not be able to make it.. Previous appointment with bambi and some of my friends.. Have fun guys, I expect a report...
I'm going to be there. While I've been autocrossing for almsot 2 years, it will be my first time on a track. So I'll be taking it real easy.
I'm going to give everyone a taste of the PZEV.
