2009 Passenger Side B-Pillar Squeak

I have done several google site searches and forum searches and cannot find any information about this problem.

Starting in the summer of 2011 my 09 Focus (currently at 113K miles) started squeaking from the passenger side b-pillar. I have noticed that it only happens during the summer and also during warmer fall and spring days. I rarely hear it during the winter. During the past warm weather spell I started hearing it. The noise drives me insane and I cannot put up with it for another year.

The squeak happens when I'm going slower (below 45mph), on big bumps and also on smaller irregularities in the pavement. I have reached over while driving and pressed on it behind the seatbelt where the two pieces of plastic join. That only temporarily stops the sound; it always comes back within minutes.

I have taken apart the B-Pillar plastics and cannot find the source of the squeak. I also cannot replicate the sound unless I'm driving.

Has anyone else experienced this annoyance? The car has been out of warranty for sometime now so I don't take it to the dealer for anything like this.

Thanks!

Thanks... I'll give that a try. Each time I have a passenger and it happens I try to point out the noise to get their assistance in tracking it down but they never seem to hear it.

I adjusted the seatbelt holder, now just have to wait for the weather to break.

One thing I plan to do this spring is to take off some interior plastics and put silicone on the tabs and snap-on points. I've been looking at some other ways to reduce interior rattling noises as well. Solutions should be simple and I plan to make them as subtle as possible to keep OE appearance. I'll probably have a thread.

I get the rattling in the dash as well. I cannot tell if it is coming from the the engine bay, instrument cluster or center stack. Probably coming from all of them. I really like my car but sometimes I'm very annoyed with the noises and the squeaks. I know its not a luxury car by any means but I feel that whether I paid $50K or $19K, the car should remain solid and noise free throughout its life.

My focus really has more rattles and squeaks than my 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 had when I traded it.

My 11 Focus is super quiet compared to my 03 Mustang so I can't complain too much, but it does get annoying since I don't have engine noise to drown everything out in the Focus like I did with the Mustang lol
