Don't accept the "normal" response from any dealer. The evidence that it is not normal is common sense and many many dealers are replacing clutch assemblies to resolve it. (mine included). My advise is to go to the dealership armed with info from this forum (kind of a sad commentary given that this issue is so obviously not normal that Ford dealerships insisting that it is are really making themselves look like total jacka#@#). There are a number of examples here of people getting this exact issue resolved.

The customer service rep here can also help you if you get push back.

A grinding transmission is not normal - it is the sound of your transmission being worn out prematurely. You don't need to be an expert to be sure of this so don't let the "experts" try to pull the wool over.

Good luck.
