The corvette grandsport has those stripes not the ZR1. Not that matters either way.
Mopar has never that I know of used them on their cars, just as the logo for dodge.
They are known as FIA stripes.
Anyways, the stripes were first used back in '63 by carroll Shelby. He used them on his cobra race team car. So he could tell his car apart from the other cobra race team from the pits cause both cars were painted black. He put yellow stripes on the fender.

They were first used on a Cobra (CSX2128) at the 1963 Sebring FIA race. The stripes were painted on 2128 to distinguish it form the other team Cobras (all black painted body's) that were racing. The color chosen for the 2128 was yellow.
