What changes can you substantiate that claim based on? There has been no new software since May 2012, at least not publicly available, they still are flashing to the older 12B37 software when someone brings the car in for service, and apart from changing the part # prefix for the 2013 over the 2012 due to the new model year there really hasn't been any evidence that a 2013 is mechanically different from a Job 2 2012.
Yes there were changes over the early job 1 2012 models which was where the majority of the mechanical failures and complaints came from, but otherwise the powershift DCT is the same gearbox as it was from at least April 2012.
The early changes were to the long shoulder rivets on the clutch plates, and there have been in process changes to the revision level of the transmission case assembly, but most of the time that would be a minor change that has nothing to do with reliability and more to do with cost reduction.
My car was built with the BV6Z-7000-F assembly which was the absolute latest transmission assembly.
In fact its the only one listed for the 2013 MY on Fordparts.com.
So to say the 2013 is more reliable than my car would be a dangerous assumption to make all things being equal. By the way for the record my car was built in April, 2012, so they were using the latest revision of the gearbox for a while now.
