I think it's just the new owners in general since the cars capture different market segments. Even when it was new the MkI Focus was after a completely different client base than the MKIII. I'll wave at other modded Focus, no matter what generation, but it seems like 90% of the ones I come across are driven by giant d-bags. I have very few wave back, and I'm assuming the ones that wave back are probably on the forum and what not.
