I still hope Ford allows this option in the future with those that have MFT ... and to add to the idea that it should be possible (since it is all but confirmed to be a software and 'flag' issue), Mazda has been doing this for a while:

Granted, the way they upgrade is likely different then what Ford has to do, but still ... the precedent has been set. I just hope there is enough push/talk to do something about it once this MFT 3.5 rolls out smoothly.
