This sounds a bit crazy, but the way I ended up getting it in was to angle the engine down as far as I could get it. Then, using two jacks+ engine hoist, I slowly got them back up and in together.

It was a right pain in the @$$ to do. Ive seen a few people drop the sub frame to do it just because it is such a pain.
